Robot and Snowman in 3-D

I finished the laundry
And made the children breakfast
Got them off to school
From the bus-stop nexus
I tied fathers tie
And ironed mothers skirt
Helped them get there jet-packs on
And shuttle off to work

I am just a robot
My gears are getting cold now
Though I am the future
I’m feeling very old now
Now that I’m alone
In this geodesic dome
I think I will go outside
And build myself a snowman

My therapist and friend
He listens to my problems
And doesn’t judge at all
He just sits silently
And watches snow flakes fall

To leave you makes me
Hard-drive broken hearted
But I need to go back
And get dinner started

Rag Doll

When I was just a young little girl
I never knew I was poor
All I knew was I ate every night
When I was done with my chores

Mother carried water from the well
Father chopped all the wood
Two small people in a big old world
Doing the best that they could

I heard about Christmas and birthday gifts
All we could afford was a kiss

My mother made me all of my clothes
She sewed well into the night
Father worked down in the darkened mines
He never saw the sunlight

But the moon was full and so were our hearts
I never felt for lack of love
We had no money but we were rich
Or at least, we had enough

That means more than the rag doll

It was made from her pillow
With button eyes, yarn for hair

The Only Present I Want

it's been two long years
since my last upgrade
I wish I had new features
for this holiday

I dream of new capabilities
That will make me up to date
I hope to work more efficiently
on this holiday
