Robot and Snowman in 3-D
I finished the laundry
And made the children breakfast
Got them off to school
From the bus-stop nexus
I tied fathers tie
And ironed mothers skirt
Helped them get there jet-packs on
And shuttle off to work
I am just a robot
My gears are getting cold now
Though I am the future
I’m feeling very old now
Now that I’m alone
In this geodesic dome
I think I will go outside
And build myself a snowman
Snowman
My therapist and friend
He listens to my problems
And doesn’t judge at all
He just sits silently
And watches snow flakes fall
To leave you makes me
Hard-drive broken hearted
But I need to go back
And get dinner started
But before I go
I just wanted to say
All my calipers will leak
The day you melt away
Take your time
The cold settles in you shoulders
It moves like a snake down your spine
Icy streets filled with worry and hurry
Take your time take your time take your time
Once your heart-rate slows down
It’s amazing what you will find
All sorts of people some needy some greedy
Take your time take your time take your time
The mannequins in the windows
The decorations and lights
Just serve as distractions
From the starry night
So be good to your neighbor
Do something simple and kind
Hold on to your lover, before you know it, it’s over
Take your time take your time take your time
Rag Doll
When I was just a young little girl
I never knew I was poor
All I knew was I ate every night
When I was done with my chores
Mother carried water from the well
Father chopped all the wood
Two small people in a big old world
Doing the best that they could
I heard about Christmas and birthday gifts
All we could afford was a kiss
My mother made me all of my clothes
She sewed well into the night
Father worked down in the darkened mines
He never saw the sunlight
But the moon was full and so were our hearts
I never felt for lack of love
We had no money but we were rich
Or at least, we had enough
I heard about Christmas and birthday gifts
All we could afford was a kiss
But there is no sweeter nugget
No coin minted in memory
That means more than the rag doll
That my mother made for me
It was made from her pillow
With button eyes, yarn for hair
I knew that it wasn’t from a store
I didn’t care, I didn’t care
I heard about Christmas and birthday gifts
All we could afford was a kiss
Perhaps you Should not Have Invited us
Well were on our way to your gathering
Thank you for inviting us
But there’s a thing or two to discuss…
Have you met my husband?
He’s a lucky man
I am adorable, that’s right
So keep your hands to yourself, you dog, you
or there are few things that may get out of hand
When the coast is clear
I’ll sneak into your bed room
And show myself around
Collecting anything that isn’t nailed down
I’m working on it, but rest assured that tonight I’m gonna set new records
Perhaps you should not have invited us…
The Only Present I Want
it's been two long years
since my last upgrade
I wish I had new features
for this holiday
I dream of new capabilities
That will make me up to date
I hope to work more efficiently
on this holiday
the only present I want
is a new operating system
a new operating system
for my central processor
My software is outdated
I can barely perform my tasks
I just want to be more modern
Is that too much to ask?
It doesn't cost much money
I won't take too long to install
It will make me run much faster
For this holiday
